Sonoma, CA- Made by world-class winemaker Dan Goldfield, this wine presents notes of cherry, wild berry, plum, and spice. A partnership between two friends, sports commentator Jim Nantz and wine entrepreneur Peter Deutsch.
Sourced from several locations in the Russian River Valley, each vineyard site contributing critical, unique aspects to the complexity of the resulting wine. Vineyards from the cooler areas lend a strong minerality and structural backbone, and vines at altitude with sandy, well-drained soil add complexity and structure.
91 POINTS – Wine Spectator
This is an intensely minty, earthy and clove-spiced wine, soft and velvety in texture. It shows a rounded body that feels ripe and rich, making this a real crowd-pleaser of a pour.
When Jim Nantz and Peter Deutsch met, they discovered they had both found success by pursuing a calling in life. For Jim, that calling was to unlock the voice within, eventually calling the greatest sporting events of his generation. For Peter, it was transforming a small family business into one of the most prestigious wine companies in the world.
Inspired by their mentor fathers and guided by their common values, the two found a new calling: a partnership to produce hand-crafted wines that bear the standard of excellence and style that are the hallmarks of these two men.

All of The Calling’s Chardonnays are 100% barrel fermented in French oak using wild yeasts; undergo full malolactic fermentation; and are aged for 11-12 months with frequent stirring of the fine lees, imparting additional flavor and complexity. The Gold Chardonnay is aged in 40% new oak, whereas the Platinum Chardonnays are aged in 60% new oak, primarily from the prestigious Damy cooperage.
The Calling’s red wines are also fermented with wild yeasts. After extended macerations, malolactic fermentation takes place in barrel. A combination of French, Eastern European, and American oak barrels are employed, both new and one year old. The Pinot Noir spends 10 months in French oak, 35-40% new; the Cabernet Sauvignon spends 20 months in 60% new oak; the “Our Tribute” blend spends 22 months in 75% new oak.
